Middle school and high school youth have a special place at Westwind Church.
With over 45 years of combined experience in youth ministry, the lead pastors at Westwind have a heart for working with students and families. They understand the importance of providing a place for preteens and teens to learn biblical truths at their level and apply it to their lives.
The middle school ministry (5th-8th grade) meets weekly in The Cellar, the basement of the Westwind Church office. Engaging volunteers incorporate large group activities (worship, games, interaction) to teach biblical truths. The students then break into small groups based on gender and grade, where trained leaders facilitate discussions and prayer. These small group sessions help students put personal applications on the lessons learned in the large group activities.
The high school students (9th-12th grade) meet each week at the home of Jon and Haverlee Colyer. Like the middle school students, the gathering begins with worship, teaching, and other activities as a large group. Small groups are formed based on grade and gender, and leaders will prompt further discussion of the teaching and application to students’ lives. Small groups will pray and care for each other as they learn about God’s Word together.
Middle and high school students are always encouraged to bring friends along to Westwind’s youth gatherings!
During weekly celebration services, students in 5th through 12th grades are encouraged to join their families for worship and teaching. Students may also serve in another ministry, such as nursery or hospitality, during this time.
Keep watching the Westwind Church website for information about future youth activities and outings!
