God’s Story

The Greatest Story Ever Told

God’s Story

The Bible tells the story of God. This story reveals who God is and His pursuit to have an intimate, personal relationship with the people he created. God created humanity for the express purpose of having a relationship that would be good for people and bring honor to Him.

“Although the world was made through Him, the world didn’t recognize Him when He came.  Even in His own land among His own people, He was not accepted.” John 1:10-11

“You are worthy, O Lord our God,

            to receive glory and honor and power.

        For you created everything,

            and it is for your pleasure that they exist and were created.”

Revelation 4:11

Humanity’s Story

Humanity intentionally walked away from God’s perfect design, destroying the relationship. The outcome of that choice is separation from God in this life, and an eternal separation when we die. This relationship cannot be restored through human effort. No amount of “doing the right thing” or “being good” can ever redeem what has been destroyed by our own sinful nature.

“Once you were dead, doomed forever because of your many sins. You used to live just like the rest of the world, full of sin, obeying Satan, the mighty prince of this world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passions and desires of our evil nature. We were born with an evil nature and, and were under God’s anger just like everyone else.” Ephesians 2:1-3

    “No one is good—

         not even one.

      No one has real understanding;

          no one is seeking God.

     All have turned away from God;

          all have gone wrong.

     No one does good,

           not even one.”

Romans 3:10-12

The Stories Climax

These stories come to a climax when God Himself chooses to live with His people in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ came to the earth and lived a perfect life, died on the cross, and rose again in order that He might re-establish humanity’s relationship with God. Through faith in Christ, an individual’s story can once again merge with God’s story, thereby giving that person both eternal life and a purpose to live.

“God saved you by His special favor when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast.  For we are God’s masterpieces. He has created us brand new in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:8-10

Your Story

If you have never asked Christ to be a part of your own personal story, you can do that right now. The Bible tells us that if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful to forgive us and to look upon us as if we had never sinned. (1 John 1:9)

The Bible also says, “For if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Anyone who believes in Him will not be disappointed. For anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:9-13

We encourage you to do that and ask God to save you and bring your story back into his story – the greatest story ever told. Simply believe what He says and ask Christ to come into your life and change your future from one of death to one of life.
